Statistics indicate that more than 75% of all people have some level of anxiety when it comes to public speaking. If you get the opportunity to speak, whether on stage or for an interview, take it! You won’t regret it!
Don’t say this: I know I will mess up and say something wrong.
Say this: If I’m on stage or being interviewed, it’s because I have deep knowledge in that area.
Don’t say this: No one will listen to me and they’ll probably be bored.
Say this: If you’re speaking publicly it’s because you were approached because of your experience.
Don’t say this: I’ll make a mistake or forget what I was going to say.
Say this: Everyone makes mistakes, address it and move on. If I forget what I was going to say, make a joke of it! People will appreciate my humor and humanity.
BUT if you’re going to do public speaking, I urge you to prepare and practice.
