22 Aug How to Stay Motivated When You’re Not the Best at Something
It’s okay to not be the best at everything!
I haven’t played tennis since I was a kid. I recently picked up the sport and let’s just say I DEFINITELY have room for improvement!
It’s important to step outside your comfort zone from time to time, and you don’t have to be the best at everything immediately. You should still try, put in the work, and the more you do it the better you’ll get.
Who knows! One day you might achieve mastery.
Here are a few tips to stay positive when you’re a bit outside of your comfort zone and not the best at something:
- Set realistic, reasonable expectations for yourself and give yourself permission to let go and just learn! Have fun with it!
- Not being the best at something doesn’t mean you’re not still an expert at other things.
- Put yourself in the mindset of the student – learning and growing each step of the way.
It’s okay to not be the best all the time – in fact, it’s better that way. If you’re only putting yourself into situations where you’re the best, you’re not growing. Sometimes we’re the teacher and sometimes we’re the student – and we can thrive in both roles!
